Hello All, My latest project was inspired by a certain "Swine" Technology. But being the packrat / cheapo I am I couldn't let go of the green $tuff. So here goes. two simple items needed. You have probably all seen the "Coke Bottle" shaped Cheetos containers in supermarkets. The first item is the empty container. The next is an empty 35MM plastic film tube. Step one: eat the Cheetos :-) http://users.adelphia.net/~weembroider/cheetos.jpg Take the Cheetos Lid and bore/cut a hole the size of your rifles barrel. (OD) I cut the whole with a wood bore 13/16 and then just filed out the center. http://users.adelphia.net/~weembroider/lid Do the same with just the lid from the 35mm tube but bore a smaller hole retaining 1/4" lip around the lid. Superglue or hotmelt the 35mm lid inside the Cheetos lid. What you should have is a Cheetos lid with about a 1" hole and the 35mm lid acting as a standoff. http://users.adelphia.net/~weembroider/lid Check the fit it should be a tight press fit with the 35mm tube lid as a stop . Installed on my RRA 24" Varmint.. No little Johnny that is NOT a silencer on Uncle Dave's black gun. :-) http://users.adelphia.net/~weembroider/installed1.jpg http://users.adelphia.net/~weembroider/installed2.jpg http://users.adelphia.net/~weembroider/installed5.jpg When you pass a jag with a patch down the bore on the reverse trip the smaller inner circle of the 35mm tube. Snags the cloth patch and it drops in the container to be disposed of later. You could use a clear bottle an after thought I had since you may want to see the coloration on your patch. Or even cut a "sight" window to view the used patch..... So you save a few bucks and recycle some plastic :-) Dave Bodkin Cumming, GA. |
