Not sure if this is an issue or not. Something I've never experienced before in 8+ builds. If I have the bcg fully into battery (empty chamber) and pull the charging handle lever and pull back on the CH slightly and let go of the lever, the CH will remain there unlatched. There is enough play with the CH (Mil spec Anderson) and the BCG that it can move back further than the receiver "notch" before reaching the BCG. If you slow ride the CH/BCG forward, it will not latch (you have to push the CH the extra nth to make it latch). Headspace is good, and everything else seems ok. Tried two other mil spec charging handles with same result. Raptor does not do this (but barely, while Raptors more than clear all my other receiver notches with ease).
The combo is: PSA Freedom nitride middy pencil upper (Anchor Harvey forge mark receiver), AIM nitride BCG (same as I run in all my other uppers), and Anderson Mil spec CH (also common in my other uppers). Is this an issue (as said, it's the only time I've encountered this in 8 AR's)? Thanks for any feedback! |
| It should not firmly contact the bolt carrier when in battery. Otherwise, it could hinder the forward travel of the carrier assy. and damage the charging handle. I checked mine and all have some freeplay. Some more than others and one more than yours. I think yours is ok. |
