I was running a recent build i finished yesterday at the range. Just about every shot was accompanied by sparks from the muzzle, some with excessive flash/fireball effects. The grouping was very tight at 50 yards with no key holing. Any idea whats causing this

Barrel: 14.5" voodoo ultralight
Muzzle Device: SDTA muzzle brake
Ammo: Fiocci .223

Looked like this:

did you  try any other ammo or just that one ? have you looked at the muzzle device to see if you have any indications of strikes ?

If you don't like fire, use a flash suppressor instead of a muzzle brake.

only ran the fiocci ammo. I have no problem with the fireballs just wanted to make sure nothing was grenading down range

I have a 16" ar that does this with my slr rifleworks muzzle break. There are some pics from slr floating around that showed this, so I always assumed it was normal, just unburned powder or something of the likes.
