I have a Bushmaster A2 lower that has just been sitting for about 10 years, and I decided I was going to throw an upper and a adjustable stock on it. The bottom screw on the stock came out easy, but the top screw won't budge, and I put some serious torque on it. The screw is unlike any I have seen before, there is a small hole in the center which can be seen looking through the buffer tube. Any ideas on how to remove this screw?

You need a properly-sized screwdriver and some oomph.  Bushmasters probably have red loctite on the stock screw, as well.

It'll come off, but you may have to ask the burly neighbor boy to come help you.

I know it will be tough. But can you hold a flashlight and take a quick shot for us on what you are seeing. Everything on my Bushmaster was very simple.

That wasn't meant to be mean. It's tough to get the light perfect for a picture.

Use a manual impact driver.

the hole is to remove any  pressure of BCG  movement .   they are Loctite in there.    lots of swearing and the right screwdriver and HP..

Stick an allen wrench into the hole and light that sucker up with a torch, it should transfer enough heat to break the lock tite bond.  Manual Impact driver is the next step.

I finally got it off. I had the perfect flat screw driver bit for my Brownells set, but the grip of the screw driver just isn't large enough for me to really get a hold of it. I took a piece of leather and wrapped it around the grip so it wouldn't get marred and put vice grip on it. I had my wife sit on the receiver, and then voila it came loose with a loud screech. The screw is slightly boogered up from my first couple of attempts with an enormous screw driver that didn't quite fit, but it's off.
