| At first I thought it was a gas problem. I checked the alignment of the gas port with the gas block hole but hat was fine. However, when I swapped bolt carrier groups the gun works fine. The BCG that I swapped out is a WMD Nickle Boron and the BCG I replaced it with is a Rock River. If the WMD weighs more than the Rock River can I compensate for the extra weight by taking weight out of the buffer? |

If it's the new bolt in old carrier that is causing problems, then head space it too tight and chances the bolt milled out of spec, If the new carrier with old bolt is causing problems, then could be the key width on it too wide and binding up in the upper receiver slot, the key not aligned with the gas tube, hammer wedging, or just the key leaking from atop of the carrier. As for the extra weight alone, unless you are board line now with too heaver of buffer installed , the slightly heaver B/C should not be the problem at hand. |

If it is, would that cause the short stroking problems I'm having? As for the buffer and spring; they are standard Rock River as they came with the factory new lower I bought. |

I ran into this problem last week on a new build. After diagnosing my problem, I found that the Gas Key was leaking where it attaches to the carrier. I took a drinking straw, inserted it into the gas key, sprayed some clp around the base of the gas key and blew into the straw. I had tons of bubbles around the front of the gas key where it attached to the carrier. The amount of air that was leaking caused my rifle to short stroke, It would not eject the spent case.
Good Luck I hope this helps |

As long as the Rock River works then your issues is solved. Consider a hard chrome BCG from RR for easier cleaning. You could also consider trying another brand of ammo when your curosity gets the best of you. Impala |
