Hey guys I'm new to AR-15's and I have a few questions.
I recently picked up a DPMS Oracle with a railed Gas Block. I bought all Magpul MOE Carbine furniture and MBUS sites for it. But, I ran into a problem with the MBUS front site not fitting on the Gas Block rail, and then I did some reading and found out that a lot of people discourage mounting those sites on the Gas Block anyway. I do not want to install a free floating Handguard, so obviously I will need a new Gas Block/Front Site. My questions: 1. What Gas Block/Front Site should I get? (best quality cheapest price) 2. Can you mix and match sites? Because I would like to use my MBUS rear backup site still. 3. Is it better to get an A2 style Gas Block/Site or just get a site that is safe to install on a railed Gas block? Thanks- |

Yes, you can mix and match so long as you do not mix a micro with a standard. You need a front sight, non-plastic, which is designed to fit on a gas block rail. Midwest Industries, TROY and YHM make them and so do quite a few others I imagine.
There in nothing wrong with the A2 so long as you can live with the sight tower sticking up all the time, or you could get the ARMS 41 BL which looks like the A2 but folds out of the way. Excellent sight by the way, I have three. If me I would just get a front sight designed for the gas block rail you already have. That would be the cheapest way to go. |
