Added new low profile gas block and diamondhead rail.. Tried to put bcg and charging handle back in and bolt is sticking out about 1/2inch and will not go in or come out. Charging handle will move like 1/2"
My gun is new and has been shot once. It was due for a cleaning but I was going to wait till after my rail was done Should I bring to a gunsmith? Tap it out from ejector window? |

I can take it all apart and rotate the gas block as I put the side with the hole closer to the receiver. However I did eyeball it with the a4 site I took off and it seemed to be in the same position
Can I just seat the gas block more forward on the barrel or should it sit up against the wider part of the barrel snugly? Also. The bcg is stuck. How do I get it back out? Is their any part that's better to tap or pull on? Thanks! |

that seems to be the problem in that i'm putting the bolt in fully extended and it won't twist and 'go in'
maybe that gas line is stopping it?? maybe it rotated 1/2 way and that's why it's stuck? would that make sense? i'll take it all apart and pull the gas line out to see if that allows the bolt to fully engage thanks guys... |

upper is seperate and cannot go back on lower due to bcg protruding
the gas block and gas line are properly aligned... the bolt won't rotate and 'shorten' itself....... why is the big question... i'm guessing gas line is in too far... will see this evening when i take it all apart again |

If you installed the free-float and had to replace the barrel nut, you may have slightly pinched your receiver if you used a vice, causing the BCG to bind. It only takes a tiny amount of pinching, so little that if tolerances of the components are on the high end it cannot be detected visually. The pinch usually occurs at the front or rear bottom of the ejection port. This does two things; makes the raceway tighter and forces the carrier to rise as it travels through, also putting upwards force on the area where the key mates with the tube. Once you free the BCG, check the gas tube. It should have a tiny bit of wiggle in the upper. If the tube has free play, then it is likely that the upper has been pinched. |

free float rail... but i used the dpms panther claw so i was inside the upper and did not pinch it ..etc
of course, now i have to disassemble without a vise since bcg is stuck in the opening hopefully i can get the flash hider off without a vise as i know i put it on pretty tight |

Clamp the barrel into the vise using the block of wood. You should always clamp the barrel in the vise when messing with muzzle attachments or you can damage/break the index pin on the barrel or twist the barrel in the upper slightly. |

Ok. Took everything apart. As soon as I moved the gas block and line forward the bolt engaged. Problem was that I had the gas block on backwards so that the line was in 1/4" too much. The port on the top of the barrel was blocked. Not sure if the weapon would have even been safe or functioned like that so I'm glad the bcg was stuck
Eye opener for me to be more careful even though it seemed easy and straightforward Thanks again for everyone's help |
