I am relatively new to AR's and have a Bushmaster flattop, not my first choice for a gun but I took what I could find when the store had them in stock.  :-)

So I bought a drop in quad rail and installed pretty easily, I put my magpul moe foregrip on and looked great until I took a closer look I could tell that the grip seemed a little misaligned.

So I dropped my MBUS on and it was even more noticeable when looking down the site.

What appears to be the problem is the barrel nut where the rail drops into and seats is just so ever off to one side where the line to the gas block runs, if you look really close you can see its barely cheated to one side, I am guessing this is whats throwing the entire quad rail off when I tighten things down.

Is there an easy way to adjust this or any other ideas to fix this?

Thanks!

You panic bought.
Do you have pics of what you are describing?

What brand/type of rail is it.

Is the top of the rail the same height as the top of the upper receiver.

Do you have a removable carry handle.

If the top of the rail is the same height as your upper receiver and you have a removable carry handle

span the carry handle halfway on the upper and halfway on the top rail and tighten the carry handle down

then tighten down what you need to on the rail. This should align/square the rail to the upper receiver.

Then you'll be all squared up.

But we need more info on the rail.

Thanks for the response.  The gun didn't come with the carry handle and the tops don't align perfectly, I think the quad rail is just a tad bit lower.

The rail is a Firefield carbine length 2 - piece drop in quad rail.  I was trying to keep things in a reasonable price, maybe I should of gone for a more expensive better option?

I will try to snap some pics tomorrow morning of what I am guessing the problem is.

I wouldn't bother to put any kind of aiming device on a drop in rail.  I'm not saying it's impossible for drop in rails to be solid enough to keep your zero, but I don't think it's very likely.

What kind of sight or gas block do you have?

Ok, So you have a two piece drop in rail.

You should not mount a front sight on a two piece drop in rail.

Depending on how much it is off you will probably need to torque the barrel nut in the direction it needs to go.

What type of gas block do you have. Is it a standard front site or a railed gas block?
