A buddy of mine is having a bitch of a time with his bushy.

The first 5 rds on a mag no issues, then the rounds start failing to chamber.

The way it appears is the bolt is failing to cycle all the way to the rear.  The round is firing and the when the bolt does not fully cycle, it's coming forward making a nice divot in the top of the round and dragging it partially out of the mag and then jamming half in the mag half in the chamber.

I'm thinking it's buffer or buffer spring related.

Thoughts???

Would dare to guess that its a cleaning and lubing problem, or something loose on the rifle that once it heats up,  them metal starting to expand and allow a gas leak, such as a key or gas block.

More details on your friend's rifle would help, but...

Start with a complete cleaning/lube. Try new good mags mags (USGI, PMAG, Lancer).  Try new brass cased ammo.  After that, check for full function of the gas system.  Load a single round in the mag, fire, see if it reliably locks open on the empty mag.
