Need help I have a 6.5 Grendel AA24 inch barrel riding a rock river arms lower, also a Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 scope attached by a rock river arms solid piece cantilever scope mount. Today I went to the range first time with it so I started at 50 yards I also should say the scope and mount were on my 223 and it was dead on. I’m a foot low and the elevation is maxed out do I just need to buy a shim for the rail and if so what type. Tried her at 100 and same thing foot low need some ideas on how to fix this. First I thought my the elevation spring was stuck but the recital moves just fine.
Should I just buy a new mount that is lower to the barrel |

The up arrow/direction on the scope is not that way you want it to move, but ass backwards, and the way that you want to the shot to move instead (don't ask since its never the shot that really moves, but the scope so it looks at where the shot is going instead).
So on that note, are you sure that you where moving the scope in the correct direction. If yes, the go back and verify that the barrel is correctly mounted in the upper receiver barrel socket, and not the problem of a bad barrel mount in the upper receiver with the barrel pointing too low instead. As for scope mounts, should not be the problem (say should, since you may have a bad mount), and not a problem with a mount that has too much build in MOA adjustment for long range since if this was the problem, then the shots would all be too high instead at short ranges. As for scope mount height, granted that the front scope bell should clear the top of the barrel, but scope mount height is more about getting your cheek welded tight to the stock and having the scope on the same line as your eye so your head is not bobbling around. |
