Ar15 m4, lrb upper and lower.. trigger isn't resetting unless I go straight to safe after a single shot..  If I push the trigger forward the gun fires, then when I tried to go to safe, the gun fired. this is my first AR. I got it used.  It looked brand new and bone dry.  He did confess it was his 'first build'.

take it down completely and assemble it correctly....  to start... no telling what he did 'wrong'

would bet trigger spring and hammer spring are backwards.. or at least one is.
disconnector spring may also be installed incorrectly.

good luck.

Cliff notes,
Make sure that FCG pin channel sizes are correct for the receiver being used.  FCG's come in .154 sizes for most rifle, while older colts used .170 size instead, hence if you have a .154 receiver, .170 channel parts on the .154 pins is going to cause problems.
Disco spring installed large coil side down into the back trigger slot under the disco tail.
Hammer spring installs with the leg coming out of the coils on the bottom of the receiver, then back up to set the legs on top of the trigger pin.

Before installing the hammer or disco, your run your finger nail down the surfaces to the edge of the sears, and feel for a end of edge bur. If found, use a stone and remove the burs without out dulling the sear edges. Aslo, dry fit the trigger pin to the trigger and disco,  If edge burs are found on the side trigger C channels, or the disco channel remove them.  The hammer with disc installed (no disco spring yet) should glide/rotate on the trigger pin freely. Note, the hammer has a J spring it it, so the hammer pin will not want to dry fit glide on the pin out of the rifle.
Lastly, make sure to CLP lube all the FCG parts, including the pin and pin channels before install the FCG in the lower.

Note to Eric for the photo being used.
