I am having loading problems, bolt drops forward but does not grab and load a round consistantly. I tried several different makes of magazines thinking it was the mags and tried different 308 rounds. All of the mags still do the same. Am I over looking the basics here? The AR10 lower is a CMMG the upper I was told was also a CMMG with a Krieger (not sure if I spelled right) barrel. Any advice would be great. Also, The upper and lower are tight not loose. There seems to be a little "slap" on all of the mags when inside the mag- well.

You might try tightening the mag release button.
Push it in on the button side, and rotate the pin on the other clockwise to tighten.

This may lift your mag up the fractions on an inch needed to ensure reliable feeding.

Good luck.

In addition, if it's an AR-10, it's an Armalite.  If it's not an Armalite, it's not an AR-10

Checked Mag. release button, was tight but I used a rod and pushed it in enough where I could tighten it one more spin. I put two different Mags in (unloaded) and it feels the same. I will test outside in a little bit by loading and cycling through with a few loaded mags. If it seems to be working, I will test fire in same manner.
Thank you for Help....

Not really the cause anymore.

You have the Armalite systems, and then the Stoner/DPMS systems, with either really boiling down to the threads on the upper receiver barrel socket for the barrel nut and barrel extension/bolt type making the difference between the two platforms in 308.

So you start with what style barrel nut is needed for the upper, then what barrel and bolt (hence what style B/C is needed for the barrel extension), then you can call the weapon based on that.

Take a Mega ten upper, You have to use a Stoner/DPMS barrel nut, but you can use an Armilite barrel (barrel extension) and bolt, or DPMS barrel (barrel extension) and DPMS bolt .

Regarding barrels and bolts, don't mix match barrel extensions to bolt types or your head space will be all screws up (bolt has to match the barrel extension type unless you had the barrel special reamed for such.

That's only a very small part of the differences in the .308 AR platforms.  AR10 is the trademark name of the .308 AR made by ArmaLite.  You wouldn't call a Camaro a Mustang would you?

The CMMG is a MK-8, not a AR10.  It uses G3 mags, not SR25 or M14 style.

It sounds like the OP has a magazine or magazine release issue.  As far as I know the MK-8 uses a standard AR15 mag release, the AR10 uses a re-engineered mag release and I believe DPMS (LR-308) and LMT also use a platform specific release.  If you force the mag all the way up into the lower receiver well it strip rounds then?

When you insert a loaded mag with the bolt forward you should feel the top round contact the bolt and then spring pressure as it forces the round down slightly before the mag catch engages.  If you feel a loaded mag having some up and down movement then that's your problem area.

You mention model MK8? My lower is a CMMG MK3. It does not take G3 mags, it takes industry standard .308 mags, CMMG, C-Products, DPMS, ect. The mag-release is the standard AR-style. Again, Thank you for the information.

If you have a MK-8 receiver, then it uses G-3 mags (not Stoner/DPMS mags, nor modified M-14 mags used in the Armalite system), and you need to mod the upper receiver to accept the HK mags as well.

Got to the below link, and then click on the dpms upper mod so the HK mags fit the upper correctly link in red.

Now you have me really confused!
My lower (CMMG MK-3) does NOT take G-3 or HK91 mags (Which is what I believe your telling me). The link is for the CMMG MK-8..???? Pictures to follow.

Sorry about that,

If you have a MK-3, then it uses a DPMS lower parts kit, and uses Stoner/DPMS style mags.
