I've fired about 160 rounds through my new AR. It has a carbine-length gas system with standard carbine buffer and spring and I think it might be overgassed.
I shot someone else's LWRC piston gun and I noticed my gun has a much more violent recoil than the LWRC. After going through about 50 rounds, I could feel my shoulder getting a little sore. Also, my gun ejects brass pretty far forward - around the 2 o'clock position. Do you think a heavier buffer would help with the problem? If so, which weight should I go with (H, H2..?)? Thanks |

My 14.5" & 11.5" carbines eject at 2:00 also. Bought an assortment of heavy buffers (H, H2, & 9mm) to see if they would change where the brass ejects.
YMMV, but running heavier buffers did almost nothing... at best, maybe brass lands at 2:30 now with the 11.5". There was no change at all with the 14.5". |

Quoted: Your shoulder is getting "sore" from shooting an AR rifle???? Are you serious???? Using heavier (or lighter) buffers is about functioning of the rifle, slowing the timing, etc. I've never seen someone claim they had a sore shoulder from shooting an AR rifle. This ![]() If it makes you feel better, you can try it. I'd advise buying an H3 buffer (three tungsten weights) and swapping out the steel weights instead of buying an H (two steel, one tungsten), or H2( two tungsten, one steel). I have looked to just buy the tungsten weights themselves but I can't find anywhere to buy them. There used to be a guy on here that sold them but he told me the price has gone up far enough he couldn't sell them anymore. |
| Unless your shooting a AR10 you should not feel any diffrence but yes a heaver buffer will help but if your over gassed then and only then would I do anything about it... you can screw up your ejection if you put to heavy a buffer... Also the type of ammo is also a consideration... Id look at the ejection pattern of your shots.... frist. |
