just purchased first ar took it out shoot a couple hundred rounds thru it without any incident.took it home to clean bcg and such when i went to slide the the ch and bcg it didnt want to seem to sit properly so i slammed it in got the lower and upper together now it seems real tight when i pull the charging handle....any help of what i messed up would be helpful....thanks |
| So you took it home. Disassembled it pulled the bcg and charging handle out. Then after you cleaned it you put the charging handle in and then bcg and it didn't want to go in? Just a quick question did you snap the cam forward before trying to reassemble? If not that could be a problem although you would need to really force it to go in, like pound it on something. From my experiance brand new ar's take some time to break in once the bolt is closed it very tight in there. When I play with a new one I always put a dab of grease where the bolt locks up to ease extraction, |
| Take it apart with the charging out put the bcc back in slowly move it to theclosed position and see where it's getting hung up. Then take the bolt back out and look over that spot. Look for deforms. if nothing looks out of Place then put some grease on the bcc lugs ( face ). Then with the weapon reassembled work the charging handle open and closed. - edit clean the grease off bolt face before u shoot it :) |

Upper shotgun open, pull the Bolt off the carrier, and with the charging handle installed and lock home, install the carrier alone. Now see if the carrier goes all the way forward with the key and gas tube matting cleanly, so the front of the carrier touches the back of the barrel extension.
Now put the bolt back in the carrier and try again with the charging handle installed and locked home. Is it the bolt lugs not entering the barrel extension cleanly that is the problem, or the bolt cam'g over home in the barrel extension where the bind is? |

it seems to be hanging on the gas tube it looks as if where the bcg meets the gas tube is getting slightly deformed as well You need to pull the hand guards and tweak the tube over the barrel so the key and end of the gas tube are aligned correctly (read use the carrier alone to get the end of the gas tube aligned correctly). Also note, the gas tube through the channel should allow the gas tube to move a tad amount in the through channel. If the tube is rock solid in the channel, then the top spine of the barrel nut was not set correctly, and binding the gas tube to one side of the upper channel for it. If this is the case, then the upper needs to be sent back to have the barrel nut indexed correctly, and maybe even the gas tube changed out and index correctly as well. |
