I just finished converting my RRA NM 20" A4 rifle to a 20" carbine with a sopmod stock and an aftermarket H2 buffer and spring.

What is happpening is sometimes the cartridge is not pushed out of the 20 round magazine all the way when I release the bolt catch on the round. when that happens I'm able to use the forward assist to push that first round the rest of the way into the chamber. The rifle fires all remaining rounds in semi-auto mode without a hitch.

Is this simply a weak spring? If so.....any supplier name you can recommend that I can buy a good spring from?

Did you go through the checklist and FAQ?

Failure to feed (FtF)

Live cartridge does not make it past the feed lips of the magazine. Often seen as a "3 point bind” with the nose of the bullet in the chamber, the wall of the case resting on the barrel extension and the base of the cartridge stuck in the magazine. Can also be a low feed where the tip of the bullet stops on the rear of the barrel extension.

FtF

Often a sign of short stroke, perform short stroke check as outlined in the Troubleshooting Checklist. Can also be caused by a bad magazine, retest with a known good magazine. Can also be caused by mix and match of parts with M4 ramps. Uppers with M4 ramps require barrels with M4 ramps or the nose of the round will catch under the barrel extension. FtF may also happen if the barrel sits too far forward (>0.012" between the front of the magazine well and the barrel extension) in the upper.

Frist step check to see if its binding on the feed ramps and I assume its a clean rifle since you said you just finished converting it....
