OK,
I assembled an AR15 on a Del-ton Lower using a DPMS LPK. For some reason, the catch will not hold the bolt to the rear by the magazine or manually. I took it back apart, and I can't find anything stuck in the spring hole or anything. I even tried another carrier to make sure that was not somehow flawed. The catch is not overly snug in the lower, so I don't see how it would be binding up. Any suggestions on what might fix this problem? |

Pull the catch again, and double check/clean the spring channel for it. Some times the bottom of the channel is littered with milling/ blasting debris that have been anodized in.
Next dry fit the catch the slot, to make sure that fitting is not required so the catch moves freely in the slot, and then dry fit the cross pin to the catch to make sure that the catch can freely rotate on it. Now with the catch installed and the upper shotgunned open, insert a empty mag to confirm that the catch is being fully lifted by the empty mag.If the catch is not coming up all the way, then either the spring channel was not milled deep enough, the catch spring it too long, or you loaded the detent in first and not on top of the spring, and you have a bound mess going on in the detent spring channel. With the upper locked back home and an empty mag in the well, pull the charging handle all the way back and confirm that the face of the bolt is retracting back back the catch. If the face of the bolt will not retract back behind the catch (but the face of the bolt needs to still max out in front of the back of ejection port), then either the wrong buffer, buffer spring, is in play, or the butt stock screws is wrong (trying to use a 5/8" longer A-2 screw in a A-1 butt stock), and the screw is not protruding into the back of the tube void.
