I have a number of like new USGI 20 round straight Nam era magazines, Colt and Adventure Line.

One of them, previously perfect, has started acting funny.

Load and fire down.  Two rounds remain, one in the chamber, one in the magazine.  Fire the one in the chamber.  Bolt goes back. Round in the magazine pops out of the feed lip, the magazine activates the hold open, hold open caught the bolt face once and caught the bolt carrier a second time.  Both times the round that was in the magazine was just laying loose in the action.

The magazine feed lips look perfect, straight and spaced as all the others.

Can a weak spring in the magazine do this?

Or something else.

Mag spring could just be worn out, or the mag just dirty and need to be pulled apart and  cleaned.

Also, check the back U channel on the feed lips to make sure that they are not cracked and causing the problem.
