was out last sunday and noticed my midlegnth was ejecting at around 1oclock.
looked at the deflector and noticed that the brass marks are actually on the reciver in the ejection port frame rather on the deflector. that tells me its been doing it since i built it a few months ago. now it runs fine and has had zero problems.. leave it alone or pick up a heavier buffer? |
| Does the bolts extractor have the "O" ring under it?... if it does then it's time to remove it the rifle is broken in and doesn't need the extra tension on the extractor anymore. If not then yes a heavier buffer probably will be needed to help slow things down a bit. I run a standard rifle buffer setup in my 2 current middies and they both function perfectly. |

Pull all the way back on the charging handle, and confirm that the face of the bolt is not retracting back past the back edge of ejection port.
If it is and a telescoping stock, you have the option of just face the receiver end, and screwing the extension in a few thread to solve the problem (move the back of the void closer to the receiver to limit the distance that the bolt will come back. If a fixed stock, then pretty much the same thing, but you will have to face the stop collar as well. If you are looking for more of a band aid if the bolt is coming back past the back edge of the port, then you could always use fender washers down the tube first, then the spring and buffer loaded over the top of it. If it just a O-ring/D-fender problem with too much tension on the extractor spring, the Gatorhunt has you covered. |
