Hello,
I have recently purchase a new DPMS lower and upper, it is a DPMS AR-15 Flattop Upper Assembly 223 Remington 1 in 8" Twist 24" Bull Barrel Stainless Steel with Free Float Handguard When I fire the gun, I have to manually work the bolt. This has been happening since the first round. It does not matter what ammo is used, nor what Mags. The round ejects, but does not attempt to pick up a fresh round unless manually charged. The gun never fully cycles on it's own. I have tried many different types of ammo, Winchester, Remington, Eagle, even wolf. I have tried different varieties of mags. I have tried bending the feed lips on the mags. I have also sent the upper back to DPMS , they sent it back with a note that the polished the feed ramps and cleaned the chamber and test fired. When test fired after I got it back, I still have the same issue. Any ideas as to where to go from here? I would like to get this functioning properly. |

If you have tried all kinds of different ammo and mags then that is ruled out. So you fire the gun, the round ejects but does not feed another nor does it jam? If the hammer cocked after you fire, before you manually charge the gun?
Kind of sounds like short stroking, the gas port may be blocked to some degree, not allowing enough gas to cycle the action. You've tried lots of ammo and mags, all the mags properly seated in the gun and never feeds another round? |

Upper runs (DPMS would have not sent it back if it did not), now we need to figure out why it's not running on the lower, or if you did not send in the B/C and DPMS used one of there own, then the B/C as well.
Details of the lower receiver build please (read could be a simple as the wrong butt stock bolt if an A-1 stock), what are you using to clean and lube the rifle (if you say Hoppes solvent and #9 gun oil, we are going to pock you right in the eye), and the B/C if this is not the same one that DPMS used to test fire the upper receiver when they had it (could be a leaking key, tail of the bolt binding on the carrier channel for it, the key to wide for the upper receiver slot, or even the key not aligned with the gas tube). Simply, the devil is in the details, and we need all of them to figure out what is causing the problem. |
