Hey there guys I, just got through building a rifle that has a spikes upper and S&W lower.  Everything goes together okay, but there is tad bit of play between the upper and lower.  I just want to get it as tight as possible.  Do you think I should try new take down pins? I assume all take down pins are the same diameter, so would it make a difference?  Anyone heard anything about Demon tactical pins?  The supposedly expand creating a tighter fit?  The Demon pins are 45 a piece which seems crazy expensive to me.  Anyone have any experience with them or any suggestions?  Thanks Guys

It's a non-issue and won't hurt anything.

If you hate the play, buy one of these.

Its the red thing in the back of the receiver (how it installs), but note that they are made for deep shelf receivers, and if you have a shallow shelf receiver, you will need to cut some of the bottom off it to get it work correct.

Thanks Guys, I will give it a shot.  Much cheaper than the Demon Pins.

Tad of looseness will not matter.

Some people also put an o ring around the front pivot lug of the upper receiver, I can't remember the size.
Accuwedge works well for low shelf receivers.  Shop around for prices though, I've seen it from 3-9 dollars.

I personally use the Red also but the o ring is a damm good Idea.  Learn something new everyday...

I made collars to go around the base of the front take down post out of .006" thick shim stock for the mating surface between the upper and lower, and .001" shim stock for the side from work....  It's kind of a juggle to keep the side shims in when I completely remove the upper, but it's not that big of a deal.

Between that, and an accuwedge, the upper and lower are rock solid.

Did the wiggle hurt my accuracy, or the operation of the gun?  Not in the slightest, but it managed to drive me nuts

I have a Spikes lower and a B-Master upper. I had lots of wiggle. Made no difference to the accuracy, as the  sights and barrel are all part of the upper. But it did drive me crazy! bought an Accuwedge at the fun show for four dollars, and now the thing fits like a vice. Best four dollars I've spent on my AR.
