I am doing a light weight build for my son. I have a 16' LW barrel. I installed a double star gas block on it, and it seems like it was getting to much gas when I test shot it. Recoil was much higher than normal. It felt like the bolt carrier was coming back way to hard. I bought this barrel used, and never shot it before changing the FSB to the new gas block. Any ideas? Im tempted to try another gas block and see it that solves the problem. Thanks.

Gas block will not solve the problem.  All gas blocks that I have seen have their ports way larger than the port in the barrel.  You may try an adjustable gas block or adjustable gas tube if you feel you are over gassed.  You may also try (cheaper too) a Wolff Extra Power recoil spring or even a M16 bolt carrier since they have more mass than the AR-15 bolt carrier.  You did not mention your stock, CAR type or A2?  If it is a CAR type then you can always go to a heavier buffer also, such as a H2, H3, Spikes Tactical... many to choose from.
If an A2 I do not know of a heavier than normal rifle buffer but I bet someone makes one.

I have a car stock, and tried a heavy buffer. I just remembered that I also bought a new gas tube when I put this together. thanks
