I was experimenting with my Ar,and i though if i can chamber a round, manually feeding it and then gently realising the carrier so that the bolt head is on the round and use the forward assist to lock the bolt in place .Can an AR do it ? Mine can`t ,it looks like the carrier can go far enough for the forward assist to engage the side lugs of the carrier to get pushed. Is this normall? Thanks

Update.I separated the upper from the lower and tried to lock the bolt with the forward assist without a round in th chamber of course and it worked fine even for the farest position.Anybody knows what is wrong?

The procedure your describing is not the proper or best way to load the weapon.Always feed the bullets from the MAGAZINE with the BCG released from the bolt stop or the charging handle manipulation.
As far as the FA not working when the BCG is lowered down slowly on a cartridge in the chamber(not a good idea)....I'd say the FA is probably engaging the carrier as it should. Its just that you are trying to overcome the extractor tension and trying to force the extractor over the cartridge rim with the FA which does not offer a great amount of leverage in the first place.
Depending on the extractor spring and insert the tension may be such that it will take a couple stabbs at the FA to get it to go into battery. If your using a CRANE o-ring the extractor tension is multiplied even more.
My advice would be feed the weapon from a magazine at all times using the loading techniques outlined in your owners manual or the -10.Next would be to completely ignore the FA and avoid using it unless absolutely necessary.
What I have found is that if the weapon does not feed normally from a magazine(with the proper procedures followed )by the weight of the BCG and buffer forced foward by the action spring, the FA will do little to help and in some cases actually make things worse.
For example a damaged cartridge forced into the chamber and jamming,or a contaminated round or debris being forced partially into the chamber and jamming the action tighter than a frogs six o'clock..None will be good and will likely ensure a disabled weapon if you start banging on the foward assist.
So if you at anytime have a cartridge that fails to chamber from a magazine normally, eject it and repeat, ignore the FA as if it was not there. If that fails disassemble the weapon clean and inspect.
As a final note its also a good idea to inspect each and every round as its loaded into your mags.

Yes my AR chambers normally from a mag it has no problem regarding the operation,I was just curious because i heard a lot that u can chamber a round using the froward assist  to no avail. Yes i am using an Oring in my extractor which will make the operation more hard and as u sad u don`t have enough leverage to force the bolt to lock .Many thanks for ur help.

Yes you can load a round one at a time by gently riding the handle forward and using the forward assist to finish it up. if you ever need to chamber a round silently that is the way to do it.  been there quite a few times.  if the forward assist wont fully lock the bolt forward then something is wrong with the round or the FA isnt installed correctly. No magazine is really necessary.  I cant even begin to count the number of times Ive dropped in dented rounds into one of our M4s on the range and needed a bit of perusasion to get it chambered.  Some people might cringe but considering one range day for us is over 10K rounds I think I can talk with a little experience behind me.

Nobody said you can't let the bolt carrier get about halfway there and then drop it. That amount of momentum should overcome the extractor and chamber ok.

mine dose this with no problems, that way i don't have the light strike from the fireing pin. an then if i don't fire the round i can put it back in the mag on top.  i don't know how many light strikes from the floating firing pin a primer can take.
