Fairly new build, only about 140 rds so far. 16" dissipator upper, Anvil Arms lower. Rifle does not have M4 feed ramps.
First trip, Indoor range - fired 20 or so rounds just to function check and BZO - No malfunctions. Second trip - Out door range. Rifle cleaned and well lubed. First 40 rds no malfunctions. Fired about three more rounds from a mag and had a round fail to feed. Tapped the Bottom of the mag and the round chambered. Rest of the magazine fired fine. This happened 5 more times. Just smacking the magazine caused the round to chamber each time. The Magazines were GI style mags W/ magpul followers and springs. After the first feeding problem I tightened the Mag release one turn, to the point the screw was past flush with the face of the button. Still had the same problem. I own a few Pmags but did not have them with me. Is this something that might work its self out with farther break in? Or is this something that I need to be overly concerned about. I can kick myself for not getting a receiver with the ramps. |

When you clean and lube the rifle, remember to pull the buffer and spring and give to them as well during the cleanings.
While you have the spring out, check the end of winds to confirm that they are not protruding, and the bolt end of the spring coil scraping down the inside of the tube. On the mags, do pull them aparts once in a while to be cleaned as well. When you have the body alone in your hand, run your fingernail down the bottom of the feed lips. It you find burs here, a quick use of a stone will resolve such burs to allow the mag to feed much smoother. Lastly, CLP is the lube of choice, and not something like Hoppes oil. |
