I have a new Colt 6721 and I was cleaning and inspecting it last night.
I noticed that on the portion of both the steel takedown pin detents that can been seen when the takedown pins are extended what looks like a slight bit of rust on both the takedown pin detents.
I used a toothpick to rub both detents and most of the rust was removed.
I guess Colt might be using some rusty detents as this is a NIB  sealed 6721 and the bore and everything else looked good. I realize that this isn't an issue I was just surprised to see this.

You're positivie that it was rust and not the grease/preservative Colt uses? Both look similar in color and appearance.

Yeah I guess this could be the case.

I use dental picks for picking debris, rust and other assorted material out of spots. You can try that and use a magnafying glass to look closer.
