New build, CMMG upper and a Noveske lower. RRA LPK.

After performing a function check, dropping the hammer and holding the trigger back while retracting the bolt fully to the rear and letting it forward again, when I release the trigger it clicks audibly and moves forward just a bit. The hammer is retained by the trigger and does not fall. If I press the trigger again the hammer falls.

I have taken everything out and reinstalled. Hammer springs, disconnector spring large side down etc.....everything looks right. Any ideas?

That sound is the disconnector releasing the hammer, which is then caught by the trigger sear.
Normal.
I'd be worried if you didn't hear that sound.

That's a perfect description of a normal function check. Nothing to worry about.

My other AR does not do this so I thought it unusual. Maybe I need to check the OTHER one!

Sharp sear edges on the new build, with tighter parts, so the noise is normal, and will quiet down in a bit of live fire (fouling on the parts helps as well).

You realy need to check your other rifle. My guess is it does click and you never noticed it before. Relax, everything is working correctly.
