The bullet was pushed into the case ?yes And you fired it ? Knowingly ?the round hung up and did not go into the chamber when i ejected it i found the bullet pushed into the casing and the top of the casing split, at that time i looked at a few others lying on the ground and found several with split casings Where on the brass did the brass split ? Length wise ? Perpendicular to the length wise axis ? the casing split from the top to where the casing widens Photos ? i will get some God bless Wyr thanks |

so your saying that it is splitting the neck of the casing, just from being chambered (not fired)? Or its splitting after being fired? My understanding is poor annealing (or lack thereof altogether) is the culprit. Just about anything federal splits in a few loadings for me. ETA: This is what I'm talking about. Heres some Federal 1x fired cases I ran through my Ar15. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/ChrisFletcher/IMG00050-20090521-1717.jpg looks like that yes ..i am assuming they are splitting as they are being chambered as the FTF was split before the round was fired .
