Yes this is my third post. I had a real sucky day at the range! 20" AR-15 7.62 X 39. Build it a few months ago. At first had some light primer strikes. Changed hammer spring to a Brownell’s heavy duty spring. Most of the round went bang after the spring change. Have three new C Products 30 round mags. Today had failure to feed. Tip of bullets were hitting front edge of mags. Wolf ammo. Tried some Yugo ammo I picked up at a gun show & it all went bang & fed fine.
I understand the light primer strikes & might end up spending the cash for the enhanced bolt. But has any one had these mag problems with C- Products & Wolf ammo? The rifle in question is an M&A parts kit on a Essential Arms lower Thanks |

Standard Firing pin protrusion out of the bolt for 223 is .032 to .037.
For 7.62 X 39, you want between .037 to .039 FP protrusion out the face of the bolt when it/s fully seated against the back of the bolt. To achieve such if the protrusion is not great enough to be in range, chuck the FP in a drill, and spin file the face of the collar seating edge of the FP back the needed amount with a small file to get the correct protrusion. As for the feeding problem, could be that the mag springs just need to be tweaked to feed more angle correctly, or the ammo is question does not cycle as strong as the other, which is not giving the mag a extra back of stroke jolt to help them recover. Really, just break the mags in a bit and see if that solves the problem with the ammo in question. |

I finally got around to sending the 3 mags back to C Products. They replaced them with new ones but I still have the same problem. Wolf HP ammo will hang up on the front inner wall of the mag. The mags & weapon are flawless when firing some surplus Yugo ammo I got at a gun show. I know..switch ammo…but I got a great deal on some wolf so I bought 1000 rounds
I guess I’ll just have to buy an AK-47 to shoot them thru! Any excuse to buy another rifle!!! Anyone else having issues with Wolf HPs? |
