I had a 9mm case break off in the chamber of my AR today. Looking at the case, I would say it was a very very overworked case that found it's way into my brass as a range pickup. These's about 3/8" of the case remaining in the chamber. As far as I am aware, there are no commercial 9mm shell extractors available. I've already considered running a tap in a thread or two and then driving it out. Or, using a brass punch to peen then inner edge and then driving a lead bullet through from the muzzle.  I'm not really a fan of either method at this point. Any one have any additional ideas or resources for extracting a broken 9mm case??

Thanks

Got a .358 bore brush?  Stick it into the chamber, then pull.  If not, try an AR15 chamber brush, yes.  Just the bronze portion, not the barrel extension section!

Less chance of damage to the chamber...worked for me on my .22 Hornet.  Used a 7mm.

Ditto, but on stubborn cases, I use a one piece cleaning rod down the muzzle. out the back end of the receiver, add the 38 cal chamber brush, pull back on the cleaning rod until the bush is inside the cracked case, and then shove the cleaning rod back down the muzzle.

The angled bristles of the bursh will hang onto the spent/cracked case from the inside, and hold onto the case even when pushed hard backwards.
