My rifle has recently developed issues with stove piping.  It happens very erratically.

I have about 2500 rounds thru it before the problem started to occur.  I have been using it in 3 gum matches.  At the last match, on one stage it would happen every few rounds.  On another stage i had none at all.  I have a spare bolt group and the problem happens with both bolt groups.

Since the problem surfaced after 2500 rounds, I'm think that something is worn and needs replacing, but I'm at a loss as to what.  I have replaced extractor springs and o-ring (around the spring).  The ejectors seem fine and strong.  My spare BCG only has about 100 rounds of use, so I doubt it is ejector  related.  I'm thinking it is something with the cycling.  I'm wondering if I should replace the buffer spring and / or buffer (I believe it has a standard - not "H" buffer).

Today I pulled the handgards and the gas tube has crusted soot (more toward the front).  Also I noticed that the roll pin, in the front gas block, has soot at the ends ans there is even some evidence if burning on the rail cove (on top of the gas block).  I remember when I installed the handgards the gas tube was clean (a little blue from heat).

Any suggestions?

Sounds like gas leaking from front end. Do you have a standard front sight or maybe an after market gas block?
Either way, you need to get the gas sealed from leaking, hopefully the gas post has not enlarged too far on your barrel.... pictures pictures pictures
