I'm pretty sure this has been posted before, but I wasn't able to find the thread. I've got a home build..Lauer lower, parts kit from JT... It runs perfectly, the only problem is the safety is stiff when moving from FIRE to SAFE or from SAFE to FIRE. Once you move it from SAFE to FIRE it's not vertical, it has a slight left cant to it. But it will fire, you have to move it more, requiring a good bit more pressure for it to be vertical..directly on fire. It also requires more pressure to put it back on SAFE from this position. Does it need to be removed and polished, or replaced ?

I’ve loosened up a stiff safety by hitting the safety detent tip with a file. Just slightly rounding it out helps. Also apply a bit of CLP.

On safeties that are too loose I’ve done just the opposite by sharpening the detent tip, and in addition, drilling out and cleaning up the safety detent position on the safety it self.

I've found that adding a dab of grease helps too. I use Tetra brand grease in these cases.

Moly grease is the best.  Only a tiny dab is needed.  Some detents are softer than the safety and will wear in.

Take the pistol grip off, pull the spring and detent.  Clean well, then grease with moly.  Good for a lifetime.
