| I have 2 complete LMT bolt/BCG's that I bought for two SP1 uppers I purchased. Neither of these extract very well. 1 FTE continuously. The other lamely dribbles expended cases out the ejection port. I removed the O-Ring on the one that was failing continuously and it began to function OK. I decided to replace the extractor springs and rubber post with the heavy duty extractor spring kit from Bravo Company. The first upgraded spring poped in, locked in and stayed secure. The second spring would not click in such that it was held in the extractor if I flipped the extractor updside down. No matter what I did (I flipped the spring 180 degrees several times) the spring would not snap in. I was able to reassemble the bolt without the spring locking in but I am wondering if this is a problem or is it OK? Is it necessary that the extractor spring snap lock into the extractor? |

You probably should disassemble that bolt and take a second look. When you install the extractor spring, press down with your thumb and at the same time, twist the spring in the direction of the coil winding. This should get the spring started, and hold it in the extractor spring pocket. Now, flip the extractor over, and using a hard, flat surface, press down on the back of the extractor. You should feel the spring pop into place. |
+1 If what QUIB suggests doesn't work I would suspect that the extractor is damaged or wasn't manufactured correctly. I'd probably swap it. |
