| I recently installed an Enedine Full Size Buffer and the rifle fires wonderfully, but, fails to lock back in rearward position after the last round is fired. Could this be caused by the buffer? The bolt release is very sluggish to use. It has to be slapped in order for it to release correctly. I am assuming that this is due to the additional pressure the buffer is placing on the bolt catch. I inspected the pin and release mechanism and there is no visible damage and everything appears to be in working order. Any help would be appreciated. |

With a full length buffer, you are aware that this unit fits receiver extension tubes for the A-1 ad A-2 stocks, and not the shorter carbine units. Also, if you did switch out to a different stock than a standard A-2 stock, which does not use the receiver extension space, then you may have the longer butt stock screw in the play, and it is protruding into the back of the tube void and blocking the buffer from going all the way back to the tube. Lastly, if you have a gas system at just the verge of stroking correctly with a standard stock, the heaver buffer is going to cause short stroking. Bottom line is first confirm that the buffer is the right size for the receiver extension being used, the butt stock screw is the correct length for the butt stock being used (A-2 screw is 5/8" longer than a A-1 unit), and lets take it from there. If the above weeds out, then we need to dive into stroking problems if the rifle is also having problem with the standard buffer as well. |

I checked the unit I currently have installed and it measures 3 5/8" in length and does not have any markings on the unit to identify it as a carbine length unit. I am pretty sure that I ordered a carbine length unit when I purchased it. The rifle functioned flawlessly with the standard buffer in it. I have owned it for a long time before I purchased the enidine buffer. The only other thing that I did was also replace the stock flash suppressor with a smith enterprises muzzle break, but, that should not have effected the gas return that severely. Thank you for the help. |
