Hello,
I have a DPMS with 16" barrel, it will fire and feed 07 q3131 just fine, but for some reason I have problems with 04 & 05, it will not eject the empty casing. I can only fire one round at a time. I have tried several different magazines but still have the same problem. Mainly FTE and fail to feed. I have read about problems with 99, but this is 04 & 05. Is this what they call short stroking? What exactly is SS? Do I have a problem with my gun? BTW, my friend shoot this same ammo out of his Bushy with no problem. Thanks

Really need to know the age of the barrel since a few years back, DPMS released some barrels that where chambered too tight (head space).

Really, just get DPMS on the phone since you may have one of these barrels.

I had the same problem with my DPMS 16" upper. I have a stockpile of 94 Q3131 that I bought dirt cheap years ago. At first I thought I bought a defective upper from the gunshow.  I tried good hard core cleaning. Did not work. I took it a local gunsmith and he checked it.  Everything was within specs.  My colt and Bushmaster rifles will feed the Winchester ammo but not the DPMS.  I have now put approximately 300 rounds of different brands of ammo through this upper with no problems.  Still, it will not extract the Q3131.  It tears off the rim casing every time.  Some uppers are just more particular about ammo than others?  If I was you, I would not freak out about the ammo, just shoot some that works.  Maybe as you shoot it more, things will loosen up.  That's what I'm hoping for.
