Here's my problem....
I just put together my first AR.
When I went to test fire it, it didn't function properly.

Symptoms....

first shot fired.
case ejected properly.
pulled trigger to fire second shot but hammer was not cocked.
manually charged the weapon.
a live round with a DENTED PRIMER ejected!

Tried again and got a full auto burst!

After several attempts I got only these two results.

HERE"S THE DETAILS>>

STAG 2H UPPER chambered in 5.56
CMMG STRIPPED LOWER
??? TRIGGER KIT
REMINGTON umc .223 55gr.

can a low quality trigger and hammer assembly be the culprit??

thanks for any advice..

The first thing to check is the disconnector adjustment. Also check to see if you have the hammer spring in backwards.
The disconnector is supposed to hold the hammer in the cocked position until the trigger is released then the hammer is caught by the sear.

you have the trigger assembly wrong.  did you forget the disconnector?  disconnector spring?   does the hammer catch in the cocked position when you manually pull the bolt back?

restudy your diagrams and figure out what's wrong before you try to shoot it again.

You don't hang out in the trouble shooting forum much do ya?

Most common cause of slam fire is the disco spring in upside down or not at all.
