I just installed a timney trigger in my long range AR build and in prone it is squeezing of a 2 or 3 round burst. at first i thought it was that i was getting a loose grip on the gun and gave it some slack enough to have the triger reset on recoil and fire again. and thought it was cause after 3 hours in full sun in 90 degree weather in 98% humidity i was getting tired and not focusing on my grip and position but after having fun with a couple burst i decide to re-grip and really tuck in to it, but i still ended up with a nice 2 shot group of 7 inches at 300 yds on a clean target with one trigger pull. Now i am thinking that maybe a reduced cycle gas tube or buffer might solve the problem but before i go spending more money on my already 2500 dollar build i would like some input on this one from everyone and anyone who has an idea. thanks Jake |

Welcome to the site. It sounds as though you have a disconnector issue. Check for binding, mis alighnment, debris stuck under it, etc. This IS NOT a cycle issue, the disco should hold the hammer under even excessive recoil (for an AR). I suspect either sticking or bad edge. Good luck. Edit for spelling. |

Timney just redesigned the disconnector on their AR-15 groups not too long ago for this exact problem. The problem was that the disconnector would release the hammer a bit too soon on release; before the trigger sear was in the correct position to catch the hammer on a slow trigger release/reset. Best to get Timney on the phone to see if you have one of the older units that needs to be updated. |
| Ok so I called up John at Timney and confirmed that there are a couple of differences between the i guess you would call it the 2nd gen timneys and said that the would ship me out a new one and to send mine back to them and all would be good. so thats what i did. so now for a while, probably a couple of weeks i have a 2300 dollar paper weight. and yes i could put one of my jard triggers in from one of the other ar's sitting around but truly that timney has spoiled me. Thanks for all the tips and advice from everyone it was really helpful . catch ya all on the flip. |
