I have a an upper that if I grab the barrel I can twist is slightly while holding the upper (there is some play in it). It also appears that I can move the gas block a bit too.
Is this normal?
If not, what do I need to do to fix the problem?
Thanks, I don't have a second rifle to compare with.

I had the same thing happen to me with a Vulcan upper. (befor I knew better) htbull barrel pistol. Then bought a Bushmaster upper.

Take it to a gunsmith and have the barrel nut tightend up.  You shold be good to go.
If you find out that the upper has a name, like Hess,Vulcan or Blackthorne get rid of it and buy a new upper....Any upper would be better!

A proper torqued barrel should not any movement  I think your barrel nut is not torqued correctly, even when torqued to 31 lb which is the minimum it won't have movement.
