Carbine stock?

The tube (receiver extension) gets spun in the receiver to just kiss the inside post as you hold the buffer retaining pin down.  The tube is then spun back enough to index it for the stock (should be like a 1/4 turn or less), then the castle nut tightened.  This should put the end of the tube over the back outer flat of the buffer retaining pin, and still dam near kissing the center post.

If/when you spin the tube back to index for the butt stock, the end of the tube is not dam near kissing the center post, then you will need to shorten the end of the tube to allow it to spin in further to get the correct index/ pin retainment (read the cheap units don't index for shit, and have to be mod/d/slightly shorten them to make them work).
Note: The end of the tube is oblong. When you shorten the bottom end lip of the tube, you will need to do the same to the top or the top lip/edge will catch/block the upper from locking home (will stick past the inner/upper treaded section of the lower receiver) .
