Hopefully, you have cycled your safety switch several times during the build process. Turn the safety off and try to cycle the action. The above worked for me. Have you greased/oiled the bolt lugs. Do so. Try a spent round instead of a snapcap. What happens? Does it work without anything chambered? |
| Fully assembled everything works fine - until I use the snap cap. I have tried spent rounds and have the same result. Lubed the bolt lugs same result. This is a problem even if the upper is off of the lower and I push the bolt into battery - it jams and I have to reattach the lower so I can bang the butt on the bench. |
Spent cases are going to wedge in the chamber since they have been blown out larger than the chamber. My guess is that the snap caps may be of the same. Bottom line is check the feed ramps against the bottom lug to confirm that you have installed the barrel indexed with the upper. Pull the gas tube and cycle the rifle with a live or test round to confirm that the bolt and chamber alone are not a problem, then reinstall the gas tube and confirm that it is indexed with the key if the problem is not a bolt/chamber one. |
| False alrm after all. Toyed with this problem for a couple of weeks. Two gase tubes and two BGCs later determine there was not really a problem to begin with. It appears that I was putting too much faith in the snapcap I was using. I took the rifle to a safe place outside and it cycles live rounds without a problem. Ordered headspace gauges to check before I ever fire it. Thanks all for the help. |
