| I am kinda new,so I am sure this has been covered before, but here goes. I have a Colt SP2 serial 303xxx. When I pull the trigger it fires 2 rounds. I cleaned the firearm per the instuctions provided by the great site. Can anyone help. Thanks. |

Sounds like a failure of your disconnector/disconnector spring. I would recomend changing the disconnector spring first (Least expensive) and try the following test. If it passes, you are good to go. If it fails, replace the disconnector as well. Function test: With an EMPTY WEAPON, selector on semi, press and hold the trigger to the rear. Weapon will dry fire (It should be completely assembled). While holding the trigger to the rear, cock the weapon by pulling charging handle fully to the rear. While still holding trigger to the rear, rotate selector lever to "Safe." Weapon should NOT FIRE, but instead the hammer should now engage the trigger and be staged for firing. If it "Dry Fired" check disconnector spring then disconnector |

My sp1 was double tapping. It fired when I pulled the trigger and again when I released the trigger. If I held the trigger back and did not release it it did not fire, but as soon as I released it it would fire a secount shot. Can you say M16. Sounded almost like a m16. I replaced the disconnect and no more m-16. Oh well, fun while it lasted. |

Change/install a new disco spring. Some of the older colt"s had weaker spring type (before this model, but the type may have found it's way into the rifle). If that does not solve the problem, this it's either retime the disco is the sears are all in still working order, or just replace the entire FCG to a new unit (mic to determine the needed size (.154 or .171)). |
