PWA (pre-94 pre-ban) lower Factory Colt M4 telestock (complete), nut secured w/ Blue LocTite Colt A1 pistol grip Colt M4 handguards BM A1 upper w/ 14.5" M4 bbl & Phantom ---------------------------------------------- The rear take down pin WILL NOT MOVE more than 1mm either way, and remains firmly in the closed and locked position, preventing the disassembly of the rifle. Ideas? Shaken Not Stirred (used to be Assassin One Six) |

Since you can get the rear take down pin to move, then the detent is glued in the forward positon. A wood golf tee and a hammer work to drift to drift the pin over (if the tee splits, you need to use heat first). My guess is that the rear take down detent pin was loctited forward (took some time to set up when the rifle was assembled and sitting) when the butt stock was assembled onto the lower. If you cannot drift the rear take down pin over using the wood tee, your going to need to do a heat transfer onto the take down pin which will trasfer over to the detent pin and break the bond holding it in the forward position. Or, just pull the butt stock/receiver extension back off the rifle, pull the rear take down detent spring, and insert a rod that you can heat up to heat transfer to the detent pin to break the loctite bond. What every you do, do not apply a torch directly to the metal. Use some sort of steel that you can heat up to transfer the heat over. Loctite will bond break at around 600*, and you will get a sweet smell once it breaks. |

Definitely stuck. I've already tried a brass rod driven w/ a hammer to try and unstick the pin. I don't have a Telestock wrench to pull the stock with, so I'll have to get one to try pulling the extension and backplate. What should I use for a heat source? Heat gun? Also, when re-LocTiting the buttstock, what technique should I use to prevent the detent from sticking again? Thanks! Shaken Not Stirred |
