I just finished cutting down a carry handle and after finishing and paint I will ahve to reinstall the sight hardware. I noticed the elevation knob is in two parts to facilitate indexing of the marks. Does anyone have a easy method of installing the elevation knob so that it will be returned to as close as originally assembled as possible? Thanks.

I watched an Armorer reassemble the A2 sight once.  And I wouldn't want to try it.

I think he said "you need three hands and a small boy" to get it back together.

Grease the detent ball and spring, the use a feeler gauge/thin metal stock to hold them in place while you slip the wheel into place.  Also, leave the tension allen screw loose into you have installed all the parts.

On the windage knob, same as for greasing the ball and spring,  use a 1/32 punch threw the hole to hold the knob onto the windage screw.  It helps to start the roll pin in the hole before you install the knob, then all you have to do is drive the roll pin in, and let it push the punch out as it seats.

Thanks guys. I got it done with a finish nail with the point cut off, a small pair of needle nosed plyers, and a small mallet. Git'r Done!
