I have a Midwest Industries rifle-length, drop-in rail.  There is a little wiggle with it.  Is there a bracket that would span the gap between the upper and the top rail to lock it in place?

The only drop-in like what you want is the, Vltor Casm rails. I believe they are now discountinued. All the other drop-ins, have the space.

I'm not worried about the space.  The problem is that it rotates slightly.  I think it is the KAC drop-in rail that has a clamp on the upper half that tightens it against the barrel nut and eliminates movement, but this one does not.

I'm looking for a bracket/clamp that would slide over the rail and sit over the gap and tighten down to eliminate the movement.

DD drop in carbine rail has 4 set screws to tighten it up. I have one on my patrol rifle. SOLID.

KAC/P&S RAS drop ins have the tab that locks using the barrel nut.

I think Troy has that feature also??

I have not seen anything like what you seek (does not mean it's not available).

Are you wanting just a short section that clamps on the pic rails to tie the 2 together?

I think you understand the question.  I doubt there is anything made for it, but I may be able to use something like that and mill it down.  Or I'll get something with a positive lockup. I'm looking at mounting an IR laser and I don't want the wiggle.

Yep.  I saw one like that and was thinking no, it needs to have 2 screws, but the one will fit in the gap.  Thank you.

It should not rotate at all. Something is wrong with your installation or your parts. You need to fix it, not put a bandaid on it.

One screw on each rail would be optimal.

How much movement do you have? Rotation wise?
Does the Midwest rail not interlock with the teeth on the bbl nut?
I've not used their rails.

Midwest also has very good customer service, have you given them a call?

I bought it used (but barely with no wear), so I don't know if MI will do anything.  Their warranty is for the original owner.  I have sent them an email.

Question sent to Midwest Industries:  "I have a 2 piece, rifle length, drop-in rail. It has a little movement in it when installed. Is this normal?"

Response:  Yes, there is a small amount of movement in the drop in handguard and is normal for our drop ins.

I'm guessing this may not be suitable for a laser mount.

Buy a KAC/P&S RAS 5.

It will be suitable.

I have seen some great deals on the EE as of late.

I got my drop-in quad rail from justrailsdotcom. I have a 16" mid length with the triangular piece by the front sight. It went in nice and snug and doesn't move a bit. The cost was great, too.
