I recently purchased a Spikes lower and I am very pleased with the finish and how smooth I installed an ALG lower parts kit into it.

I then ordered a Spikes upper which when mated to the lower had a clean 1/8 gap between it and the lower (at the rear take down pin). Sent it back to Spikes and they sent me out a new one (great customer service btw) which has a much better fit; but still has a lot of play in it - wobble.

Last night I received a Spikes buffer tube kit and there is a ridge on one half of the tube that is simply poor machining or whatever such process used to make it. Is this issue with QC something that's common with Spikes or do I just have really bad luck?

I know that they will make it right for me but I really hate having to ship it back, and wait 2 weeks to get another defect free one back.

The few things I've purchased from Spike's have been excellent.  And I'm picky.  I think it's just bad luck.

Spikes has outstanding customer service.

It appears you have had a run of bad luck.

Is the "ridge" on the tube you are speaking about on the end of the threading? If so it is there to hod down the buffer detent when screwed into the lower receiver.

I have used Spikes standard lowers/upper sets, LPKs, BCGs and buffers on two different builds. I have found everything to be just fine. Well, the logo was offset slightly on one of the ST-T2 buffers if that matters to anyone. I'm very pleased with Spikes and would not hesitate to use them again.

QC is excellent with spikes.

Remember you are buying milspec when it comes to upper to lower fitment .

The buffer tube is supposed to have that little ridge to hold the buffer retainer pin. Could you post a picture?

I just received a kit from them also and it has the ridge in the same area but on the bottle.  Not as noticeable but it's there.  Just letting you know, if you send it back you'll probably get another.
