Just picked up Daniel Defense V11 LW complete upper with a 16" mid-length barrel and pairing it with a Spike's Crusader. I'm looking at using a Spike's ST-1 (H Buffer) with either a Damage Industries enhanced spring or a JP Enhanced Buffer spring - any thoughts on either of these combos? Just want to make sure I'm not giving up potential reliability, I run some PMC brass but not much Tula or Wolf steel cased ammo.

Any thoughts on other buffer /spring options? I know I could run carbine  buffer / spring for 100% reliability, but would like to soften the recoil a bit.

Don't mess around, Mac.  Swap out your gas block for an adjustable unit so you can use a standard, or even lighter than standard, buffer and a spring of your choice.  Adjusting bolt speed by selecting various buffers and springs is crude compared to simply adjusting the amount of gas directly at the gas block or gas key. good luck - CW

What's the factory buffer? I would expect DD to send that setup with an H buffer.

I like Damage springs, I always grab them while they're on sale. At regular price I would grab a sprinco spring from rogtac.

Not sure if OP does?

Thanks guys. Went ahead and picked up several of the DI springs to have a few spares as they are on sale for $6 bucks. Paired them with the H buffer.

If I was building an upper I would have definitely opted for an adj. gas block but I wanted this as a complete factory with a pinned gas block. I have 2 SBRs with adj. gb's and agree they are a much better method to tuning the gun. In the back of my mind I always wonder how they will hold up in an all day carbine class or SHTF scenario.
