Today i took my recent build to the range to break it in and to dial in the scope.
However i noticed while the bolt is locked back the saftety selector gets a mushy feel when moving from fire to safe.
I did not notice this on any other AR i have handled and was wondering how i could go about fixing it.
Does material need to be removed? Does the rifle need more of a break in time? Is a new selector needed?

My rifle is a Aero Precision gen II lower with a BCM PNT trigger and a brownells brand lower parts kit.

Did you use a take down/pivot pin spring instead of the selector spring?

Is the hole for the spring in the grip abnormal in depth or shape?

Yeah, im using the right spring, and i dont think theres a problem with the hole in the grip, with the bolt locked forward the safety engages and disengages perfectly fine. but when the bolt is locked back it becomes mushy going into safe.

Any odd interference with the trigger group and the safety?

If you take the lower off of the upper you can simulate the movement of everything using your fingers and look into the lower.

This is my guess.

With the bolt locked back, it is pushing down on the hammer, trying to flip the selector to safe will push down on the trigger and up on the hammer.

I've seen the same issue with a buddy of mine's first build. No idea as to why.

Played around with my lower seeing where it was binding up.
It seems to be when the bolt is locked back, pushing down on the hammer causes the rear of the trigger to move up and make contact.
Im contemplating buying a new safety juast because i have a standard one and would like something better, hopefully solves the problem.
Although this isnt much of a problem as i dont have an absolute NEED to put the weapon on safe while the bolt is locked rearward.

Unless you're at an event or range that specifically requires both. Been there, got the T-shirt.
