So this upper just finished, shoots well but, I need 17 clicks right to center on target. FSB does not appear canted, barrel is a Anderson 16" M4 style with 1:8 twist front sight is A2, rear sight is Std. A2 fixed handle . Groups well but, the rear sight adjustment really bothers me. Seems the front sight needs to move left a tad.....can the AK fix (mallet to the sight left) work ? Or should I opt for a clamp on front sight, if so, what brand is recommended? Thanks in advance.

I don't understand. Are you not able to to adjust the sites sufficiently to get on target? Who cares if it takes 17 clicks or 2 clicks to get there. As long as you are on the target and you have good groupings, I wouldn’t worry about it.

+1. If it's not canted or at least visibly canted, and you are able to zero the rifle, leave it and shoot it

That stuff bugs me too.

Im going with, shoot it... Its a Anderson upper...

When you look at it, dont look at the site, or the upper for that matter.

Look at the Aero lower.

If you wanted something perfect, maybe Anderson wasn't it.

eta.

Nice lathe!

If you are able to zero, then it does not matter how many clicks it takes, hell you should have seen some of the crap they issued up in the army!

I think they purposely knocked the sights out of wack, so we had to learn how to zero!

Verify FSB alignment by laying a straight edge in the trough in top of the carry handle.  Use something long enough to reach the sight post.  Is the straight edge aligned properly with the sight post?  If not, then either the FSB is canted on the barrel, the barrel alignment pin is not properly centered in the upper receiver slot, the slot is deformed, or the pin is sheared or deformed which allowed the barrel to rotate slightly within the receiver when the barrel nut was tightened.

As stated above, as long as you can zero the windage without running out of travel you are good to go.  If that's not good enough for you then reread the first paragraph and take corrective action.

what I would do is remove the barrel and lap the receiver face. That straightens out most barrel alignment problems.
