This is what I went with just looking for feedback
Spikes Punisher Lower
PSA Lower Parts Kit (Milspec)
Aero Precision M4E1 18" 5.56 Upper
Still undecided on BCG was thinking either AP or PSA
Will run flip up iron sights for now

I have heard good things about PSA BCGs. I wouldn't "cheap out" on a BCG, not saying that you are with either of those. Just that it is an important part of the build. I went BCM for mine and got it for around $158. Everything else seems gtg.

I wanted to go with a BCM upper and BCG but being my 1st build I figured I would just keep it at a decent budget.. I will mostly look on AIM, PSA, BCM, and AP for BCG and read reviews as I have been slowly taken my time with this build and not really in a hurry. I think once I finish this one I will be building one for the wife

If you want to stay on a budget I would stay more along the PSA lines. When I was looking into BCGs and considering AIM, I had read some reviews that were not always the greatest even though the are nickel boron ones. I don't necessarily think that's important, but I'm anal about cleaning/lubing my weapons. Maybe take a look at Fail Zero, decently priced and I read some pretty good things as well.

I've used a lot of BCM parts on my build and they have all been top notch.
Good luck with the build, post some pics when you can.

Any particular reason for the 18" barreled upper vs a 16?  It's gonna be a legit build for sure just wondering the thought behind the 18.  Enjoy it and look forward to seeing your build.  I love seeing newly built rifles..........

I wasn't interested in a 20 and I will be using it mostly for just targets, groundhogs, and when a fox comes around the chicken houses. I thought it would be better accuracy at the distances I often shoot? I mean I have a 30-06 Sako but thats overkill on groundhogs and small predators. I dont think the added length makes a huge difference or does it?

It seems like everybody here is die hard 16" or shorter, but in all reality, the terminal ballistics of a 5.56 start to shine at 18".  The whole point of firing such a relatively small round is to do it at high velocities, which is hard to do with shorter barrels, obviously.

Since you plan to do more than punch holes in paper, 18" should serve you well.  I'll take velocity over a little weight savings any day.  Accuracy is probably negligible between the lengths, but terminal ballistics are important when you're not just shooting paper.

Seems like a good start to me. I really liked the quality of the PSA LPK. But that was also back when they only cost $40

Welcome to the addiction. Looks like a solid build. Host pics to a photosharing site (photobucket, imgur etc) post link. Until you hit 50 posts they need to be approved but thats easy we all like gunporn

I use dropbox if it works I'll get some pictures soon. Finally got around to shooting bought some American eagle 5.56 at wally world had a blast and happy with the accuracy. Only weighs slightly over 8 pounds doesn't seem heavy to me since I'm used to shotguns and larger caliber rifles. Had 1 ftf can I assume that was break in? I really didn't go heavy on gun oil.

Sounds like a solid build. Look into the AIM Surplus bolt carrier groups. I recently ordered one and will report back on it. Haven't really seen anything back about them. There are numerous places comparing the NIB carriers with PSA's. Seems like a majority of the people prefer the AIM Surplus carrier. There's Quite a few reviews on PSA sure about the NIB coating coming off.
