I have decided after I ran out of things to do with my Glock, that I would take a shot at building my own AR since I've always wanted one. So far I have basically finished the buffer tube arriving today and the stock next week. So far my build consists of:

Spikes "Honey Badger" lower
PSA Magpul MOE Lower Parts Kit (No FCG)
Bravo Company PNT Trigger
Bravo Company Mil-Spec Buffer Tube Assembly
B5 Systems Bravo Stock Mil-Spec

Future Parts:

Bravo Company Upper
Bravo Company BCG
Faxon 16in Gunner Barrel   or   Bravo Company 16in Standard Mid Length Barrel
Bravo Company Gas Block/Gas Tube
Bravo Company KMR Alpha Rail 13in

Still open to changing around the future parts, but Bravo Company seems to make quality parts for a good price. And I still need to decide on optics. Either red dot or magnified If anyone has suggestions or opinions on any parts, please feel free to let me know.

Once I figure out how to add pictures, I will.

With all the Bravo Co parts for your upper you might just look for a complete upper from them.  It's gotten to where it's often cheaper that way.

Edit... as for pics you need a pic host site, like Photobucket.  Load them up there, then click the button below that looks like a mountain scene and copy the link for the pic into there.  Saves arfcom (and most other boards) a boatload of memory space.

BCM starndard upper with 13"kmr rail will be cheaper to buy than build. Especially considering the discount on BCG whem buying an upper and the price of tools (vibe block etc) Solid rifle whether you build it or buy it

I understand what you guys are saying, buy the complete one over piecing it together. I explored that option, but I came across the demo/blem BCM uppers and grabbed one of those for nearly half the price which ended up saving me a bunch of money. Just picked up the charging handle today and ordered the BCM BCG for a pretty good deal. I am now leaning towards the Faxon Gunner Barrel, but I'm still not sure. Seems like there is a lot of good things said about it. Also exploring other options on rails, but I really like the BCM rails a lot.

To me, it is also a lot of fun to "build it myself". Maybe you can understand, but it's more personal that way. Knowing that I put it all together the way I want.

BCM bolt carrier group and ambi charging handle just got installed. You can see pictures on my photobuxket of the progress. Came across a Faxon 16in pencil barrel with low pro gas block installed already so that's on its way. Almost done, just install the barrel, gas sytem, and find a rail and it will gtg.

Still need to decide on optics thought. Most likely a red dot ... maybe primary arms.

Of course, I have heard so many good things surrounding your barrels that I was hard pressed to pick up something else. Cant wait to get it and get some rounds moving through it.

So the question is......what do you have picked out for your next build. Time for planning is at hand. Ha, I cant stop. I was looking yesterday and I think I have all but a handful of parts to complete yet another M4 variation....dammit.

It will really hit you when you shoot the rifle for the 1st time.  Then you know you loved making it.  They are like lego kits for adults.  Engineering crack i call them.  Its how you will justify buying all the tools as well.  Just wait...  Congrats on the build!

jon: You are definitely on the right track.  Don't be lured into buying a complete upper when you have the means to assemble one yourself.  By all accounts, Faxon makes excellent barrels, you won't be disappointed with your 16" middy.  Get a flash hider that looks good to your eye, I prefer the 3-prong variety.  Recoil from the .223 rounds is minimal anyway.

Try out some other grip types, to get one that fits your hand.  BCM's new Gunfighter grips are pretty nice, but I prefer Magpul's MOE K2+ model.  An easy upgrade for your handguard is the magnesium KMR13 model, much lighter and very well made.  Personally, I prefer the KMR10 on a middy barrel, at 10.4 inches its front end is flush with the front of a low pro gas block.

Finally, for tools you will need a sturdy 4" bench vise and a suitable receiver block.  Also, a pair of small roll pin punches, one each for starting and driving.  BCM's KMR handguards come with a wrench included, as I recall.  The barrel nut screws on easily, with moly grease, and thankfully with no need to index the nut to any particular position, 35 lb-ft is sufficient. The gas tube passes unimpeded.  good luck - CW

I've already started the thoughts on what I'll be doing next. Since this is being built as a light weight, closer range shooter. I'm thinking well maybe I should build more of a long range purpose built rifle. I know once I shoot it I'll be even more hooked and basically live at the range. I need to make sure this bad boys little brother Glock still gets some loving.

I think building was the right choice for me in this case. Even though it is basically a BCM upper besides barrel/gas block. It was still much more fun to piece it all together.

As for a flash hider ... I cant get one. I live in NJ and anything labeled "flash hider" is a no go. The rule that I keep hearing is if you can stick your pinky in the tip, its illegal. So I need to find something label a comp basically and has a small hole in it. Then I need to get it pinned and welded on to my barrel for it to be legal. NJ sucks let me tell you. And no more than 15 rounds in a mag.

I'm quickly learning I will need more tools. I have a punch set and it has served me well. I have an AR multitool that has the castle nut wrench. But I know for the barrel I will need the vise, the block, the torque wrench, and maybe braker bar.

You know I was thinking about which length and which rail (KMR or ALPHA). I was planning on putting the barrel in position and holding it as if I were shooting. That way I can see what length I would need without going too long or too short. As for which one, I know the KMR is almost $100 more and I know its lighter. But I may deal with the extra weight so I can save some money. But I'm still debating what I am going to do about that.

Faxon Pencil barrel came in today with the gas glocl and pins. Feels extremely light and will be a perfect fit into my BCM upper. Just waiting on the aeroshell to come in as well as the gas tube, then I will get that all installed.

Also got my MBUS rear sight today and threw that on. My comp is also on the way and need to figure out how I'm going to get that pinned and welded on since it's NJ law. Last thing will be the rail, which I decided on the 15in BCM alpha rail. Just need to order. Then I will finally be able to put some rounds down range.
