So I'm installing a magazine catch on my Aero lower, and it's constantly catching and getting hung up. I push the mag release button, but it sticks, only works if I kind of wiggle it. Just to see if maybe it was the lower I switched it with one from a different rifle. I tried it in multiple lowers and it's definitely the mag catch that has the problem.
I mic'd it and it's just a tad smaller in dimension than my others. Should I just ask PSA for a replacement? Thanks

I would. It's sounds like it out of spec to work on the majority of lowers.

I'll send them an email. Thanks for the reply. Never had this before. But I guess there's bound to be a hang up somewhere eventually

And your sure that you didn't mistakenly use the disconnector spring instead of the mag catch spring?

The bolt catch spring and disconnector spring are similar size.  I think his problem is the mag release.

It sounds like you have figured it out, but sometimes if the magazine catch isn't screwed on enough, with the threads coming up to the top of the hole in the button, then the mag release will easily snag on the lower.  Rotating it 1/2 or 1 more spin will fix that problem. Sometimes you have to rotate the button to get that 1/2 spin.
Also, I have been able to fit a sticky one by stoning the sharp edge that was hanging up.

Does it get stuck before or after you drop the mag?  I've seen where they are not threaded in far enough allowing them to come out of the receiver when pushed and hang up instead of springing back in.

The mag catch is easy to take apart and test.  Check each piece separately.  Alone, does the button slide in and out easily?  Same with the mag catch, by itself, does slide in and out easily?  As for the wrong spring, I'm not sure how you could even begin to mistake the mag catch for any other spring.  Nothing g else is close enough to work.  But double check anyway.  It too should slide with ease.

Alone it does not slide in and out easily. I tried just slipping it in a few lowers and moving it back and forth. But it catches on the inside of the receiver. The button itself seems to be fine, as does the spring. I interchanged these parts with a different mag catch and had no issues. I also definitely have the correct springs in, but it's always a good idea to double check.

It doesn't look bent to me, but where it comes out of the receiver on the left side, it gets hung up on the sides and I have to either wiggle it, or press the release button a few times to get it to move all the way out. When completely installed, trying to insert a magazine takes a lot more pressure than any others I have

Got an email back from PSA and they're sending a replacement out to me asap. Not too shabby
