I got the roll pin out, but the nylon piece won't budge.  I can't get a purchase with pliers.
Help!

If it doesn't work with force.... Your not using enough.  ??    Are you going to re-use the bumper?

Couldn't tell you the proper way, if there is one, but I've always been able to work the bumper out with just a pair of channel-locks.

That was my intent.  Don't wanna pay $6< shipping for a $0.25 part.

Lol.  That's exactly what I used.  Even wrapped the teeth with electrical tape hoping to make it more grippy, but it just slides off.

Try "spinning" the bumper, to get over any burrs from the pin hole, that may be locking it in place.  Try putting in the freezer?

I've always just used my fingers.... Work it back and forth spinning it and pulling at the same time, that's the best I got.

I'm guessing burrs or superglue. The damn thing won't even budge for a screwdriver.  Knife is too dangerous.  With my luck a chisel would cleave the end right off.  Wouldn't the freezer make it brittle?

Thanks.  I found one of those textured rubber sheets for opening jars and ended up wearing some smooth spots on it.  I even used a sharpie to make a dot where the bumper and body meet so I could see movement. None.

Inertia.  Find a piece of pipe the buffer itself fits in but the base won't.  Basically with an ID the same as the buffer spring. 3/4" should do it.  Tap the other end of the pipe on a hard surface until the parts fall out inside of the pipe.

If you're cheap, BUY a short section at the hardware store.  If your really cheap, USE a short section at the hardware store.

I just used pliers and moved it back and forth a bunch of times till it wiggled out. It was tough but it came out.

OP, are you lightening it or adding weight?

To address the last three of you, it's my "mil-spec" buffer (unsure as to actual manufacturer).  My goal is to remove the weights and reassemble it as part of a low mass system.  I slightly buggered the end of it trying to get the nylon bumper out, but not enough to affect function.  I thought of an idea similar to the pipe, using the inertia of the weights to knock the bumper out.  That bitch is wedged too tight.  I thought about drilling the center, adding an eyebolt, and pulling the hell out of it.

I did the same thing. I removed all the weights from mine for my ultra light build.

Just as I had made peace with the situation and installed the standard buffer, I started putting away my tools and thought about vice grips. I knew I had a pair somewhere that would come in at enough of an angle to form more of a sharp pinch rather than a flat hold. The first attempt was really tight, but it slipped off anyway. I tightened the bolt a half turn, tried again, and she popped right out (along with the weights). I'm surprised they only weigh 1.2oz! Used the same vice grips to squeeze the roll pin back into place and finished it with a punch.
Thanks again for your suggestions guys.
